Healthy Campus

Be Well at Work - Wellness Program strives to support UC Berkeley in becoming a healthier campus through programs, resources, strategies, and policies that address the environment to make the healthy choice the easy choice.

Eat Well Berkeley includes all things related to a healthy food environment on campus, and includes the Food and Beverage Choices Policy. This policy helps create a healthy campus environment where the healthy choice is the easy choice. It applies to dining commons, restaurants/retail, concessions, vending, and meetings/events.

Find all kinds of resources related to healthy meetings and events, including the UC Berkeley Healthy Meeting & Event Guide. This page provides you with guidance on including healthier food choices (whether you are using catering services, shopping at local stores, or hosting a potluck), tips to include activity breaks to help make meetings more productive and additional resources for event planners.  

Healthy Beverage Initiative

The goals of the UC Healthy Beverage Initiative (HBI) via the Healthy Campus Network, are to provide the opportunity for UC campuses to make strides toward reducing sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) sales and to provide and promote tap water as a healthy alternative.

Staff Garden

The staff community garden is located outside of Li Ka Shing, Mulford, Morgan, and Genetics & Plant Biology. It includes herbs, native Californian plants, as well as plants used by the Ohlone. Volunteers help maintain the garden each month, and any staff can participate. 

Wellness Ambassadors

Wellness Ambassadors play an important role in creating a healthy work environment and culture. Ambassadors serve as key communicators helping to ensure UCB faculty and staff are informed about wellness programs, activities, events, and resources.

Campus policies and guidelines supporting health and wellness make it easier for faculty and staff to maintain healthy lifestyles at work. 

UC Berkeley Nutrition and Physical Activity Work Group

The 2013 Vision for a Healthier Cal Accomplishments summarizes the work of the UC Berkeley Nutrition and Physical Activity Work Group, led by the Be Well at Work Wellness Program in partnership with faculty members, students, and campus service units. The Workgroup’s purpose was to identify problems associated with poor nutrition and inactivity on campus and to influence campus practices and policy to support a healthy environment.
